hey, i'm an avid reader and would love it if any teens or parents of teens could suggest some good books that they/their teens like. thanks!

My son likes pretty much anything by Timothy Zahn and I can recommend the earlier works of Robert Heinlein. Don't try anything after 1960, though.

Well, I'm a teen, but I read mostly adult level books. I'll give you my list of favorite books, then my favorite teen books.

1.) Desperation by Stephen King (also a movie)
2.) Deception Point by Dan Brown
3.) 1st To Die by James Patterson (also a REALLY good movie.)
4.) Water For Elephants by Sarah Gruen (so good, for adults or teens)
5.) Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz
6.) The Daily Coyote (about a woman who raises a baby coyote and the stuggles)

Good teen books:

1.) My Sister's Keeper (has a totally opposite view than the movie)

As you can see I don't read many teens books, but those I have listed aren't too adult for older teens, with the exception of maybe Desperation.

I just read what Happened to Lonni Garver and loved it, I am an avid reader also . I just read the Juvy 3 thats a good teen book. I am on my 10 th book this summer which is good for me with 2 kids and pets. Happy reading.

Anything by Jerry Spinelli, but especially Stargirl and Love, Stargirl. The style may be simple, but the ideas are more mature.

Kon Tiki (great story, if the thesis turned out to be wrong)

The James Herriot series if you like animals, which considering where we're posting...you like animals.

I am taking a course this semester Literature for Children. This week's reading and assignment focused on the 14-18 age group. The American Library Association site is an excellent reference:

www.ala.org/yalsa

They have lists and lists of book award winners.

'Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment' or 'The Dangerous Days of Daniel X'. Both are by James Patterson, and both are the first in a series.
