Friday I borrowed my son's dog for backup. He is very speedy, covers a lot of ground, and does a lot of "marking." He has even been known to snatch a robin out of the air. But he is fine with chickens. And I went to TSC to check out electric fence options. Was leaning toward strands of wire on the chain link, high and low, but then started thinking about the portability of the Poultry net, I could bring the girls to the garden or the orchard to work their magic. And there is former competitive marks person that I need to call...so am working on the problem. Meanwhile, the girls are cranky and spending lots of time in the coop if I'm not around.

Thanks for the ideas, I like the corrugated metal idea.

So sorry to hear about Claire, she sounds like she was a doll baby. Between the foxes and hawks, my birdies only get supervised free range time, that way the only thing watching them like a hawk is me. Good luck with that pesky predator!
