So we recently had a raccoon attack our ducks and our runner duck lemon fortunately survived the attack but her sister sunshine unfortunately passed😭. We were going to look for a new duck to live with her so we were wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what type of breed works well with runner ducks and are nice. I was also wondering if anyone has any good places to buy a duck or a duckling.

Sorry for your loss, we loved pur Welsh harlequins, they were friendly not skittish, and easy to train they came when called. The fox got them ,we got the fox ;)

Any mallard derived breed should do, id just try try to get another female that is around the same size as her. Try looking at your local Craigslist in the for sale section, and in the fqrn and garden section there are almost always adult ducks or ducklings for sale on there.
Thank you for the tips I'll make sure to look at some mallard ducks in my area.

I'm very sorry for your loss of Sunshine, what a lovely name. :(

I agree with @SolarDuck that any mallard derived breed would do fine, preferably about the same size as Lemon. By that we mean that any domestic duck that is not a muscovy. I have a mixed flock, and I noticed that my ducks did seem to prefer to hang out with their own breed. So, personally I would likely try to get whatever breed Lemon is. I would also get her an adult friend, as it will take too long for a ducking to grow up and Lemon will be lonely.

Yeah I was trying to find a duck the same breed and around the same age as her in my area that are not to expensive. If I need to I can get a duckling because she's been broody lately and has taken care of ducklings before, so I was thinking that might work but I didn't know if she would have the same interactions that she would have with a adult duck her age.
