Good Enough for layer feed?

I too am surprised out how hard it is to find feed. I live in the middle if what I feel is ag country. Salinas, Wattsonville... Artichoke capital of the US. The feed store in Watsonville is half hay and horse feed and half dumb boots and western ware. I was lucky to find a small Hispanic store hidden in Salinas that sells game bird crumbles next to the parrot seed. How many folks order quail food online? jezz imagine the shipping costs

YOU DO REALIZE THERE'S MORE TO IT THAN JUST PROTIEN PERCENTAGE?

Yes, and the fact that 30% protein professionally milled GAME BIRD STARTER costs me about 33 cents a pound. I think I'm in the wrong business.

Actually you just made a good point, if you are haveing trouble finding gamebird feed. Try to find a Hispanic store. A lot of Hispanic women raise chickens and have house birds but the men raise gamebirds. I had forgotten that. Why I don't know, that's the way it is around this area.

Most major cities have feed stores within transport distance. It may be more difficult if you don't have a car & need to have it on the bus route. Look for a Tractor Supply Company or an Orscheln's. These are major chains and are even found in many urban areas, though perhaps in the outskirts in one of the suburbs. There may also be other feed stores around, more than you realize. My urban area has a LOT of them within the region. However, most do not carry game bird feed. Some can order it, though.

Or, you could order Manna Pro online. This is a trusted feed. If you only have need for small amounts of food you could probably get it somewhere online. This is only one option. I do not know this seller. However, at least it is a trusted name brand of feed & sealed from the factory.

" Look for a Tractor Supply Company "

DONT GET ME WRONG. I LIKE AND USE TSC, BUT FOR GAMEBIRD FEED THIS IS A WASTE OF TIME IN 90% OF THESE CASES AS I HAVE YET TO SEE 1 THAT CARRIES IT OR HEAR OF 1 THAT CARRIES IT, USUALLY ALL THEY HAVE IS THAT DULESS CHICK STARTER GARBAGE WHICH IS MISLEADING IN THEIR LABELING OF BEING MADE FOR ALL CHICKS, ITS CHICKEN STARTER-- NOTHING MORE.

Best Way To Find Feed Without Running All Over Is To Go To Purina Mills Online Site--- Right There On The Front Page Is A Dealer Locator Option--- Type In Your Zipcode And It Will Spit Out A List Of The Closest Dealers In Your Area--- Scratch Off All Tsc's And Then Start Calling The Rest On The List.

There is calcium, protein, riboflav.....I have a whole list in my notes of the importance for each ingredient if anyone is interested???

It sounded like the OP just needed a few pounds of feed. They carry Manna Pro.

Figured he could buy it there. I should have clarified.

They have another brand of Gamebird starter at my tsc, but I can't remember which one.
