Good incubator for a newbie

I would like to get something with an automatic egg turner. Or is there another kind that would be good for someone starting out.

THat is the exact model of Brinsea that cooked some if my eggs a couple of weeks ago. There more expensive models might fare better but but that one.

I prefer the Genesis or my Rcom. the Rcom is expensive but foolproof. The Genesis is cheaper but hard to clean.

I was devastated. There was several thousand dollars worth of English Orpington and Ayam Cemani eggs in it that got cooked. Still waiting on Brinsea to see if they will replace it. But I will never trust it again.

Be sure to read the customer reviews! Seems like I've heard a few bad stories about the Brinsea.

I like the Hovabator Genesis 1588. It's perfect for beginners because everything is electronically controlled. You can pretty much set it and forget it, just adding water every few days. A complete setup will probably cost around $200.

I've had my Hovabator for about 30 years,and hatched many an egg,from quail eggs to goose eggs without a problem. I hadn't used it in about 20 years,when I dug it out,fixed the mouse holes with scrap foam sheathing and Gorilla Glue. It works perfectly,even the turner. I put 14 eggs in it this morning in a climate controlled mechanical room, so that the temps won't vary much. It maintained 99.5f for 12 hours before I put the eggs in,and within 30 minutes it had regained the temp. lha

My problem with the Genesis (or any foam incubator) is cleaning it. The hard plastic ones like the Rcom incubators clean up in minutes.

I bought the Brinsea, with the turning cradle, in 10-13. I have hatched 4 batches of eggs (22 out of 24 eggs EACH time), and am on my 5th batch. Candled those eggs last night. Have 21 fertile and doing well, right now, 1 I am not quite sure about, and 2 duds for sure. I have had no issues, so far, with this incubator. And, it has now paid for itself, along with the Brinsea brooder and egg candler. It is very easy to use/set up, and is a breeze to clean. Hopefully, after reading the other posts, my incubator will continue to function like it has done so far!!!
