I need something that has good drainage! I live in texas and it gets quite humid and we get a lot of rain. Right now they are walking on dirt. And when it rains- it smells so bad!

Can't beat a good layer of sand. I have a 6 inch layer of course washed sand and it rarely puddles.

thanks all. Texas soil with its clay is very hard to drain. I'll have to get me some SAND!

For the coop: Do ya'll use straw or wood chips? I use straw.

We used gravel. It works and drains well for us. Cured my stinky muddy run. And we already had it on hand from another project.
