To introduce us, I'll say "Hi y'all!"
When we met 11 years ago, before we got married the one condition my husband gave me was that he would leave ONLY IF my family wanted to go into chicken farming!
Needless to say, he's changed his mind. Right now, he's building us a chicken tractor for our coming laying chickens. Really he hasn't changed his mind, he just does not want to raise chickens in a chicken house for meat. He grew up doing that commercially and has horrible memories from it. I'll spare you the details. Suffice to say, "Ewwwwww!".
We live on an old cotton farm & gin here in Central Alabama that belonged to my family. Only 2 remaining outbuildings have survived but we live on about 80 acres of land with a pond & other family members. I am so excited to get this farm going again. My husband was raised on a "real" farm with cows, horses, chickens, etc.
I love this site and am so happy to have found it. I look forward to raising our own food, a little at a time.
