Hello! My name is Tamara and I have lived where I could have chickens on a 3-acre property for about 5 years now but I'm just getting to the point to where I am really falling in love with all of the different varieties and colors, as well as loving that I can make a difference with rare breeds. I just got a incubator a couple months ago and must have done better than I thought candling because before 10 days were up some of the eggs I took from around the barn and candles but still weren't sure of ended up hatching... In fact I've had 6 so far that have come out and are gorgeous. I've definitely decided I need to make a chart with different areas of the bar now so that I know which rooster is with who hahaha actually I'm going to set up separate pens for when I want to breed certain girls but I am still researching all of that and hope that all of you can help me learn more. I have so many questions and I'm Googling things all the time. I have many different types that I love and many that I would love to get and raise but just don't have the funds to buy the actual Birds right now... Well, at least not without knowing if I just buy one hand and one rooster of certain ones they will survive their trip here haha
I am 43, single never married but have two wonderful kids (25 and 11)... I and blessed to be able to rent a home from my parents who built their home on this property with a mother in-law house. I would love to be able to supplement my income a little bit but I'm sure that's down the road. Right now though I have had so much fun learning and experimenting, and I find just photographing my chickens and goats gives me the best therapy I could ever ask for. Especially since with my narcolepsy I can't drive very far so I stay at home a lot. They truly fascinate me and I find that I ask a lot of questions about life when I'm out with them.
I'm really hoping and praying soon I can get a couple Jubilee orpington hens and a rooster. As well as some different colors of Polish because I absolutely love them but can only really find black with white crest in this area or silver laced once in awhile. My dream is to have a tolbunt, golden or something fun like that... Anyway I'm sure I'll write more later. I'm very excited to meet others who have so much wisdom or so much love for the same things I do. It wasn't until I moved here that I realized how much I truly love animals. My dad thinks I'm crazy but I guess every family has to have someone like that right? Haha well I hope to hear from someone soon feel free to write. I'm going to add some photos of my new baby chicks as well as chickens I have if this allows me to do that. If not I'll post other places!:)
