Thank You for the reply and welcome. I suppose I should add a few things here, starting with a great big "tip-of-the-hat" to the forum/site owners for their help over the years we've owned chickens. I've come here many times to find answers to odd problems and have always found solutions thanks to you and your members. Thanks!

I just finished the new coop and have 6 chicks in it (8 weeks) and the rest are still in the old coop. I'm adapting them individually, starting with our rooster. I built him a high, solid pole roost at one end and he LOVES sitting up there watching the chicks. It almost seemed last time, when I had him hop to my arm to put him back out, that he didn't want to leave! I also added a long swing right in front of the huge window that EVERYONE seems to enjoy, and it helps their leg strength and balance as well. By winter, all 17 will have a spot in the new coop and be happy...... we hope.....

Final note, I had a white chick the others were beating on and separated her. After reading threads here, I tried the "paint 'em" method. A friend had some purple wound cover (same as "blue coat) and I q-tipped some to her head, completely hiding any old blood, then held her up and polka-dotted her purple! The others seemed to want to half-heartedly peck her again, but not as violently, but my voice made them pause. I quickly took them all out to play and no problems outside, so after a while, back in. She's part of the flock again now and no problems.... except I changed her name. ....and she looks funny....
but it WORKED!
