Thanks for this thread - I moved my first batch of eggs from the bator to the hatcher yesterday. I stop turning on Wed, and then it's up to them.

Congratulations Katy - not only a fantastic hatch, but BLRWs!!

This will be a different line to add to my BLRWs.

I've got a question for you. I take it wednesday is day 18 since you're going to stop turning that day. Is there a reason you moved them to the hatcher already?

Yes, Wed is day 18. I moved them to the hatcher so I could raise the humidity a bit. Was that a mistake?

You shouldn't raise the humidity until day 18. I don't know how high you've got it, but until day 18 I try and keep it at about 40-45%.....no higher than 50 for sure. Then on day 18 bump it up to at least 70%.

I'm sorry to steal your thread, but if I'm doing something wrong I need help.

This is my first time incubating on my own. I have eggs in the bator that were set at a three different times. Last week I culled an egg that was clear. It was a shipped egg, and had been in my bator for a week at 40% humidity. When I tried to crack it, all of the shell peeled off, and the membrane was intact and very tough. Is this a humidity problem, or a dead egg problem?

The air cells in the eggs I moved look good - not too big, not too small. I really don't want the chicks to stick to their shells, so I raised their humidity a bit early. They're at 65%.

Congrats Katy, they look great! I bet they will be wonderful eye candy when they feather out. I've always had an eye for BLR. Very cool!
