Our entire area was under quarantine for some time now. The dreaded bird flu was found on a few farms and many ostrich farms shut down.
We were not allowed to even move one live chicken off our property. Problem is we just sold our farm, so it meant in about 3 month's time I'd have had to kill my chickens.
But I just got an update from our state vet: they finally lifted the quarantine.
So now I can find good homes for my flock of about 90. No more worries! What a relieve! I was dreading having to kill my birds or having to sneak around getting rid of them, praying no-one will report me.
