Good or bad sign?? Help!

It is day 18 and while I was taking eggs out of turners, I heard peeps!

Isn't it a little early to be hearing peeps?

Yes, that's a tiny bit early. But don't panic, they're probably fine.

There is usually lots of egg rocking and pipping before the hatch starts. Its just the way a chick and hen talk to each other before the big day. Everything sounds good. Lots of luck.

Is the chick even ready to come out at day 18?


Temp was a steady 99.5 to 99.8

Depends on how accurate your thermo is. If the temps were high the chicks will develop faster. Unfortunatly, it is a matter of trial and error with your equipment. You won't know for sure until the hatch is finished and then you can make changes for the next batch.

I had 2 of my eggs hatch at day 18...pipped at the end of day 17. They (all 28) were done before day 21 arrived and they all made it thru.
