Good temporary nesting box?

So you flip the box and cut an opening for her like the plastic tote?

If the box is big enough just lay it on the side with one flap down. My first egg was found in a 5 gallon bucket with some pea gravel in it so IMHO nesting material is optional. My current setup is a roll out nest box with some outdoor carpet like material on the floor.

That makes sense. I'll look in to that one. :goodpost:

I really like the cat box. But whatever you have handy will work. When setting up a breeding trio in my small grow out coop I just put a plastic milk crate on it's side with hay in it. Works like a charm, keeps eggs in one place and clean.

Great nest boxes, and great for broody hens. You can move them if necessary to isolate broody mamas from the flock.

Funny thing is, the off white one in the middle is the smaller one. Every couple of days the top is busted off cause they apparently had more than one in there at a time. Its the current 'favorite'.
