thats why i have a couple of "wildlife cameras" around my property that i go through every now and then... they watch my garage front door, trails in my woods and down property lines... not cheap but a less visible security camera.

And not to mention that maybe she should invest in some security cameras too!
SHe has camera on her drive way and the front of the barn. She put in two cameras in the barn for foaling but they are hardly ever even hooked up and not set to record. It would have made sense to put the cameras up after she had a whole barn full of hay stollen by a former employee....but then, I would have insured my breeding horses if I was trying to make money raising horse!!!
She has put up an electric fence - to keep the horses off the cheap PVC fence, but even that was cut a few months back by some one. My husband was fuming when he went to work that morning. He has to repair the electric and pvc fence!
Update - they took x-rays this morning and are sending them off to UNC...Husband says the colt is doing a bit better this morning but the vet is concerned about a fragment of bone that is floating down near the base of the skull. She can't remove it because it is attached to muscle but if it dies and doesn't refuse to the skull properly, the horse will have to be put down.
Hopefully UNC will have some ideas about what to do to help him heal properly - if it is even possible.
