Good times for Dickey Incubators

I know what you mean by keeping them separate. I had a hatcher full that hatched out over the weekend. I just put eggs from different breeders in separate trays. I've never hatched this many chicks! It was crazy, and so much fun!

But I also got the covers for all of the trays in the bator when I ordered it. That way, if you have a bator full that will be hatching all at once, you can stop the turners and hatch in those trays also.

Mr. Dickey customized trays for me when I told him what I wanted to hatch in my bator. I got mine to hatch geese this spring and he fixed the trays the way he thought would be best for goose eggs. I can take out the bars and slide in plain racks for all the other eggs.

Okay, I am so cabinet incubator dense and so tell me how i would stop a tray from turning. I have the cover I could use on the next one up and boy would save a hassle of fooling with the other bator. Can you stop just one tray from turning? I have another hatch coming off next week end that I will need to separate too.

i'm about a quarter of the way toward saving for my dickey! i'm excited. next year, i'll be hatching in it, if all goes as planned!

I would stop the turner and use the hatcher and bottom rack - put the lid on the bottom rack so they won't fall. Eggs in the top 2 racks I would use a 2x2 wood length and rock them back and forth to keep them turned and exercised.

I read the debate Dickey vs Sportsman on this forum.

Inspite the opinion (in debate) that pressed board has better insulation qualities than wood I like wood better than everything else.

Dickey is made from real wood. So are the old Humidares, Sears, and other bators still being used and hatching more chicks than enything else.

Pressed board common today in furniture manufacturing and home construction is simply junk.

It is cheaper than wood, heavier than wood, and it swells absorbing moisture, termites love it, there is also valid concern about toxicity due to manufacturing process.

That's a main reason I would go for Dickey.

No offense to Sportsmen owners and fans , it's a good and proven product.

Dickey is the only commercial bator made of wood on the market today. Correct me if I am wrong.
