Good Use For Pumpkin

Don't feel bad. Mine weren't to thrilled with it either.

My duck seemed to like it the best!

How does everyone get their chickens to eat so much produce? If I'm not treating mine with some sort of bug, eggs, or other meat product, they won't have anything to do with it anymore.

We did move to a bigger place with more diversity in grasses . . . maybe that's sating their appetite for produce. And I was so excited to be able to feed the chickens pumpkin again.

My girls like pumpkin just fine, so long as it is cooked!!!

I cut it in half and sling it in the microwave until it is soft, seeds and all.

But they will only eat the guts if I put it out raw...

I have raised tropical birds in the past and it seemed that if you didn't introduce produce early and often, they tended to just stick with their seed and ignore the veggies. Maybe chickens are the same way???

When I got my first batch of Welsh Harlequin ducklings, I introduced them to veggies at 3 days old. Of course they mostly played with them for the first week, but they figured it out eventually and now LOVE their produce treats.
