I bet they'll be happy when you do! My chicks would go crazy their first time in the coop.

Yes, my last lot of chicks did that. They were so happy to be let free!
Unfortunately all of those chicks got eaten by a fox which means I'm extremely nervous about letting them into an outdoor enclosure again.
It was partly my fault for not securing the hardware cloth/wire mesh properly

The boys are very friendly to chicks. They were great with Pippin and her chicks (I never separated them) and I had no complications with them at all! They were great chick protectors too!
