I'm sorry to hear about Callie. I have a buff Orpington whose very dear to me, so I feel for you.

Any idea what happened? Did she go of old age in her sleep?

Thank you to all.

I'm not sure why but she spent a couple weeks looking weak and losing weight. I fed her special treats including her first ever boiled egg which she loved, she was looking stronger and participating with the flock, eating, etc. Then yesterday morning she looked ill again and later I went out to check on her and she had passed inside her coop

I'm glad to have had her and share some memories of her.

Like when we closed up some nest boxes for the summer due to heat she kept going back every 2 minutes to see if they were open until I put her in a cool nest with a egg is when she settled down.

She wasn't a nervous chicken, friendly.

My sweet flock of buff Orpingtons are dwindling down as they've reached 3 yrs old

The summers are scorching here this will be their 4th summer and it's probably really hard on them.
