Thanks so much! It's nice to have people say nice things....
Like I've mentioned before in other places around here....a lot of people have that "It's just a chicken" mentality.
I didn't think they would make such great pets before we moved out here....I always lived in the city...so....
How wrong I was! I love my birds!
My Mom gets mad at me, every time we go to the feed store, if I see a chick with issues, I'm checking it out and trying to take it home. "We don't need to go through this again!"
Oh, but I do and I will.

I never thought a story about a baby chick would bring tears to my eyes, yours did. I feel for you. I had one of our little chicks pass right in my hand. They are so easy to fall in love with. Thanks for sharing

I feel for you too! I had a baby pass in my hands last year...another one I took a chance on. His name was Beepers. Little baby beep!
He was a barred rock...his spots were not placed properly and one of his legs was messed up...not terribly, but it was. I think the more he grew, the worse his insides got. It's hard to let them go....it's really a bummer when they love you back....

Sadly, I do not have any pictures of Penelope....kinda bummed about that...but I have my memories.

I teared up for Penelope because I had a chick just like her, cross-beaked yet still one of the best chickens I've ever known.
