I have some chicks that a local preschool hatched for me. One of them seemed on deaths edge its first two days (couldn't walk, flopping around) but is now doing fine at 3ish weeks old except....

It has one eye that is on and off gooey. The eye has been this way since hatch so I don't think it's an infection. No one else has the problem - so not contagious. It reminds me of my daughter when she was little and had problems with blocked tear ducts. Could a chicken have the same problem?

Some days it seems better than others.

What should I do before this causes a long term problem?

sorry I missed this
the best thing to do is to useVETRX on the birds head and eye by rubbing it in
and under tyhe wings
and down the throat 1/2 tsp of the Vetrx
then in the water 1 tsp for as long as the birds has this eye problem

also feed the chicks wet mash probiotic
each chic this amt

2 tsp of dry chicken fed crumbles
1 tsp of yoguart
3 tsp of milk any kind and
1 tbsp of apple sauce put on mix after it is mixed good

the one effected with eye problem feed one 400 mg of VitE with tip cut off capsule then put the vitE in the beak to let it drizzle into the throat
do this twice a day for a week and see if chick is better
email me for questions
