I just feed the llamas a bit ago, and for some strange reason baby llama is laying down next to the hay and eating. Is this normal? The girls are adjusting well, and have been doing great all day.

Thanks, Sonja

I've never had llamas, but I have had goats, horses, cats, dogs .....
In all of my experiences, they are just spoiled rotten, and don't want to bother with standing up to eat. I'm sure some llama experts will come along. I'm sure it's fine, just comfortable enough to lay and eat.

Yes, that's normal. Some llamas just seem to enjoy kicking back and eating at the same time! That could be a lazy characteristic or a smart llama that knows how to really enjoy life....

A couple of my llamas do that and some of the others never have.

Sounds normal. 1 of our goat kids would do that. He'd eat and eat 'til you'd think he would pop, then he would lay down and eat more. You can almost here him say "ugh. my legs can't hold up my big belly anymore. I'll just have to lay down. *munch munch munch*"
