Gooooooood Morning Chickenland!

Interesting avatar. Is that Lucy wearing pajamas? Welcome to Backyard chickens.

That is "Ms Lucy the rotti princess of everything" at about 4 months wearing my nieces chicken halloween costume a few years ago. Don't judge, there may have been an adult beverage involved HA! After the picture, my niece ended up being a witch for halloween & she walked Lucy (in the chicken suit) around the neighborhood. My niece was THRILLED with all of the attention she got for taking her chicken trick or treating

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Congratulations on the farm and I hope all goes well with the purchase of it. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting chickens. Do you have any breed preferences?

my advise is to always keep the chickens and the dogs separate, I learned the hard way with my first flock. Chickens run, flap their wings, and squawk, like big chew toys for dogs. Doesn't end well for the chickens.

So far I'm interested in black copper marans, wyndottes & maybe a few easter eggers. It's a known fact that I'm the sucker in my house. I'm sure I will end up being a victim of chicken math.

LOL. Very few BYC members are immune to chicken math. :o) You're going to have a very colorful egg basket. I love the chololate eggs of the Marans, and our Easter Eggers are my granddaughter's (pictured in my avatar) favorite chickens. She loves their colored eggs. Good look in getting your flock.

It happened! It finally happened! We got the keys to the farm a week ago & there are 30 chicks in the brooder! Silver laced wyndottes, welsummers, rhode island reds, leghorns, ameracaunas & cream legbars!
400

the rhode island on top of the water is by far the bravest. She actually jumps right into whatever hand reaches in there. We've named her Red :)
