GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Yay for the move.. I like chickens but they don't hatch like geese.

Everyone has cute babies. Pete .. all I can say is WOW hope to have some that come close one day.

Girls here are done laying. I have 5 goose eggs in the bator. 4 Embden and 1 surprise (mis-marked what pen it came from)

The Mother's Day 6-pack (3 sebbie & 3 Embden) are growing . I can't wait for these guys to feather in.

Pete, glad you started this thread so those of us who supported each other over the past few months on the hatchalong thread can continue to support each other as our goslings grow up. I hope if those of us who are still hatching into the summer post about our hatches, that it will not trigger the thread getting moved again.

FYI, it may be helpful to those who are new to our group to post a link in your original post to the original hatchalong thread as there is a ton of useful information there that is not just about hatching, but about things like color genetics in breeding, the difference between angelwing and stiff primaries, and the very real but largely unrealized threat of magpie birds to baby goslings (just to name a few examples).

LOVE the dewlap pics, and of course I am partial to RG's buffs since they are from my trio.

The trio being raised by Spirit (my amazing dewlap gander) are 3.5 weeks old and also have wonderful saggy bottoms. It's been a while since I took any pics of them, so I'll be sure to take some to share tomorrow. Also need to post a pic of the very spoiled solo dewlap baby that hatched a couple of days ago. Luckily, my African egg should be hatched out before the morning, so he will have a buddy.

Then it will be pins and needles time as the next two dewlap eggs hatch..... while you may have faith that I will get another buff girl, I bet I will get more boys.

I had wondered were the other forum had went. Thank you Pete for starting this one. I have been following every ones progress of hatching and growing goslings. Then it disappeared.

Pete I adore your Buffs!!!!! They have so MUCH type and bulk my gosh did you do something great with the cross breeding to Dewlux lines. Be Proud that Dewlux sings on through his great great offspring..... And I do mean sings on super great type!!!!!

Oh Ruru, I guess you missed the buff girl sad story on the other thread. I finally hatched a perfect buff girl (along with another boy) and 5 days later, she was killed by a magpie bird.

Since then, I've hatched yet another boy and bet I have 1-2 more boys hatched out by the end of the weekend.

RG, those are very cool looking!! Do they have the same diet/care as domestic waterfowl?

Well I got 2 Egyptian babies! 5 days old ~ here are adult pics I found online

Where did you get your Egyptians? My son has been wanting some and I was planning to buy him a few next year. He wants me to raise Canadians again also. I will need to call my state fish and wildlife lady for permits on the Canadians. I have 32 ducklings right now and 6 goslings, and goose and duck eggs in the incubators. In the nineties and they still keep laying eggs. In this heat, I do not let them sit on them, however. I am an overzealous mom, I guess.
