GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Chicory is a total sweetheart with me year round. He even shares babies with me. But during breeding season, he hates my husband and is overly protective of Beignet and babies, charging the fence at everything, from cars passing by to approaching dogs.

If Sam had teeth I'd think he was rabid right now, and she is back out must be trial runs.

Ganders guard their female when on eggs with their life. As I said they hate everything and everybody. Miss Lydia if he can get you and bite you he will....

Oh how well I know RURU I have been bitten many times by Sam, I try to stay ou of reach or put something between us, he hates the bamboo pole I use. or the broom or the can I carry the shavings in etc. and the drakes and lets see the ducks and chickens aren't high on his list right now either. lol Missy has never acted aggressive towards me will she get that way if she hatches any goslings?

That's so sweet he'll share babies with you . We'd probably have to use a tranquilizer dart to get a gosling away from him

My boys hiss and act horrid... but refuse to come within arms reach if I'm watching... my pant legs or boots get it if I'm not. They know that being picked up and loved is the punishment for them. I only pick mine up when they are in trouble or need a good looking over. However anyone else I recommend they stay out of reach or carry the "pole" and keep it between themselves and the geese at all times. Only Mom is allowed in the "pasture" without me.
