GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Iain
6 arrived in the mail today with no issues, now sitting to settle down. This will be my last hatch for this year (yep right! so my wife says believe it when i see it)as the farm is starting to take off (greenhouses and plowing/planting). I take it BW is a Buff White African??
The other 7 are doing fine an developing nicely. Oh an the give backs are real nice looking, guess you"ll have to stay a couple over 30 now.

Thanks, guys!  I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them yet.   I worked so hard to get my flock under 30 (I have 29) and now all of a sudden I'm up to 34 again.  I hope the couple returns for them, but if not, I'll figure something out.  They are certainly nice enough to add to my breeder group.
30 is just an arbitrary number anyway! 34 is such a nice, round number. And you can't count Spirit and his flock, because they aren't really a breeding group anyway!

Maybe it should be instead of "I need to have less than thirty geese" it should be "I need to have less than 30 breeding geese!

Serv, I can see how that one may look like a gander in the picture, but it sure acts and sounds like a goose to me! The 5-pack have settled in nicely and I got two eggs from them today. The owner stopped by and was pleased to see them doing well. She is still on the fence about taking them back. I expect to know more by the end of the month.

They all eat, though!! i´ve been separating some of mine to sell today...I´ve managed to put 8 aside, but I keep changing my mind! Oh, and I have just 2 ganders among that lot! I´ve kept 5 ganders to go with year-old or more geese, and I have 5 young geese that I´ll pair off the following year with whatever develops in this year´s hatch. So difficult to part with them!
