Quote: Oh no, I don't think that would fly at my house right now. It's almost as if the feed manufactures ground up some Viagra in with the usual rations because I don't know about anyone
else's animals, but I do know that all of mine have been more prolific this spring than they have been in some time...lol !!! Plus, until my gf gets the control back from my gander, I
don't think she'd be all that keen on the 20 gosling idea anyway. Gabi laid another egg today. And thanks for the suggestion to mark them. I've done that with chicken eggs before so I'm not sure why I didn't think to do that with these. Well tomorrow I'm going to remove all the eggs and see what happens. Maybe she'll choose a different nesting site once I board up
the opening underneath the rabbit hutch. Or maybe she'll just get really ****** off and find a worse place to lay...like in my little office in the back of my garage, she's always loved it
in there. Guess tomorrow I'll be boarding that one up too...

So how did it go? My 2 girls haven't laid one egg in their house yet they have decided the duck houses are better.
hmm.png
They go in and find a duck egg and lay their egg next to it.

Oh Miss Lydia, that's too funny !!! Perhaps your geese are going to try 'adopting out' their eggs this year and get the ducks to do all the boring and monotonous incubating for
them !!! As far as that mystical goose soap opera "where the egg lays" goes, she's actually taken to laying them in the nesting area of their very own house !!! I will admit that I
felt a little guilty after I boarded up the hutch, so I actually left the door to my little office in the garage open just in case she truly was that upset about me closing off the hutch area
and she still refused to lay in the nest and house I built for her. I figured, 6 on one hand, half dozen on the other, so really what difference did it make as long as she had them in a place that was safe. But then, like I mentioned, she decided to lay them in her house anyway so it all worked out for the best. By the way, do geese ever lay more than one egg a day? Is it possible for them to occasionally lay two in a 24 hour period? Like, could she lay one at 7 pm on Thursday and then lay another one sometime before 10 am on Friday? Because I swear that is exactly what Gabi did !!! I only know this for certain because I pitch forked out their entire bedding around 6 pm on Thursday. Swept it clean and clear to the floor. Then I put a fresh bale of not yet opened shavings in there...then the happy couple went inside and I locked the door...and when I went to let them out the next morning,..there were TWO eggs in with them. Two perfectly hard shelled and complete goose eggs, just laying there in the shavings, blinding me with their sparkling whiteness. So it must be possible, right? I mean, I know what I saw. I even picked them up to take a closer look at them. I don't suffer fools very well and I certainly am no fool myself, but I've never heard of such a thing before, so I thought I'd see what you had to say on the subject...lol !!! Thanks in advance. Who knows, maybe it happens all the time with geese. It just never has with any of my other birds before, so I was rather shocked at first.

I guess you can't say it could never happen although I've never seen it. it's usually every other day for laying an egg. That's really cool Kim that she decided to use the very house you made for them. So much better to lay and brood where they have the privacy they need and hopefully none of the other animals dare stray too close[if they know what's good for them]

So now it's just a waiting game for when she begins to get serious, probably won't take too long . Keep us updated and keep working with GF and gander issue.

Oh, they know...lol !!! At least most of them do anyway. You can sure tell which chickens don't quite 'get it' yet...they're the ones running around with only a third of their
tail feathers left...lol !!! And as far as I'm concerned, the laying of the extra mystery egg was just a fluke of nature, because anything less and I'd have to really start questioning
my sanity !!! It's bad enough that every other part of me is slowly failing, I don't want to even consider what I'll be up against (or what my loved ones will be up against) when I
finally lose all cognitive ability and reason.

Just the mere thought of it almost throws me spiraling over the edge
barnie.gif
!!! So I saw what I saw and I am what I am...
And that's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL !!!

P.S. And as far as the GF and the Gander go, the melodrama has yet to be played out, but I'm putting my money on the GF. I've seen both of them when they're ****** off
and the GF is by far, a much more worrisome adversary !!!

Oh I believe you, stranger things have happened. lol Let us know when GF and Gander square off. Maybe secretly video it. lol

What a wonderful idea Miss Lydia !!! I could even go so far as to set up one of those cage arena-type things like they have in that movie Mad Max at Thunderdome. Then I could
video tape it and play it back for people like it's one of those Ultimate Fighting matches and charge admission !!! I could use the proceeds to get Gus and Gabi a new ULTRA deluxe modular home with adjoining nursery, my GF a well deserved vacation in the Galapagos and myself a handful of therapy sessions for having to deal with all of them...lol !!!

When I went down to close everybody in for the night, I took a couple of pictures of Gus standing guard at his woman's nest. It was so funny because at about 5:30 this evening I was called outside by Gus' baleful sounding 'screams'. He rarely makes any noise unless there's actually something to make noise about and he never has sounded like this before. So I went outside expecting to find one of those errant 'just don't quite get it yet.' chickens wandering around aimlessly inside of Gus and Gabi's pen, but no. All the chickens had gone to bed early so there was nothing nor nobody in their pen but them yet he continued to scream. Confused, I bent down and looked inside their condo and saw Gabi in there sitting on her nest with her beak open and panting. She looked stressed out and I swear if I thought that geese could sweat, I'd say that she was drenched !!! She was, come to find out, laying an egg that very minute. Apparently she had never laid one in front of Gus before and it freaked him out so he called to me...or...he knew that I'd never seen her lay an egg before and decided to call for me to come out and share in the experience (of course I'd prefer it to be the latter of the two reasons, but knowing how much of a nervous nellie Gus has been lately, I'm certain that it was the previous one LOL !!!) Anyway, here are a couple of pics I took with my phone while I was down there 'experiencing' things.
Enjoy!

***and that's not Gabi in the pictures...it's big daddy Gus holding court !!!

Aren't they amazing. love the pics such beautiful geese. I love my Buff. would like to have more but right now 4 is ENOUGH. Gus knows something is up and soon he'll be a proud papa goose. you'll have to wear a suit of armor just to be in the same area. Not to mention GF. My gander[Embden] is still defending our 2 youngest and they will be a year old end of May, and 1 is a gander..

I do like the idea of getting all of this on camera. Might make a mint. lol
