Crazy mama, I hope they are warm and toasty now. you too.I went out this afternoon and while out there was a thunderstorm. When I got home the daft goose was out in the pouring rain with the little ones..10 days old...they were really bedraggled, so I picked them up and popped them under the shelter where mum duly followed. i was as drenched as the babies! I´ll check later to make sure she´s keeping them cosy. I don´t want them to get chilled, I´ve lost enough babes this year.
Well I went and had a hot shower. Put on dry clothes. The rain went off a bit, so i went back out to check on them and it started heavy again! The goose was under the shelter with goslings tucked up, all were snug. The adopted singletons are big ´n´ tough now, sat on the bank of the stream. I got wet again! More dry clothes.Crazy mama, I hope they are warm and toasty now. you too.
I remember, especially the bit "they keep falling"! They´ll keep falling now until february!!! And I´ll keep on getting wet! But it´s great, because the geese will have super-fresh green new grass, even better than what you saw in the other photos on the other thread. There´ll now be hot days followed by heavy storms in the late afternoon. I´ll keep the goslings penned in with mum until they´re 3 or 4 weeks, as the stream turns into a torrent and they could be overcome. Plenty of water for the rest of the birds though!!Seems like today was your day to play in the rain! Remember the song rain drops keep falling on my head?![]()
