GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

I went out this afternoon and while out there was a thunderstorm. When I got home the daft goose was out in the pouring rain with the little ones..10 days old...they were really bedraggled, so I picked them up and popped them under the shelter where mum duly followed. i was as drenched as the babies! I´ll check later to make sure she´s keeping them cosy. I don´t want them to get chilled, I´ve lost enough babes this year.

Well I went and had a hot shower. Put on dry clothes. The rain went off a bit, so i went back out to check on them and it started heavy again! The goose was under the shelter with goslings tucked up, all were snug. The adopted singletons are big ´n´ tough now, sat on the bank of the stream. I got wet again! More dry clothes.

Seems like today was your day to play in the rain! Remember the song rain drops keep falling on my head?

I remember, especially the bit "they keep falling"! They´ll keep falling now until february!!! And I´ll keep on getting wet! But it´s great, because the geese will have super-fresh green new grass, even better than what you saw in the other photos on the other thread. There´ll now be hot days followed by heavy storms in the late afternoon. I´ll keep the goslings penned in with mum until they´re 3 or 4 weeks, as the stream turns into a torrent and they could be overcome. Plenty of water for the rest of the birds though!!

Chickens don´t think much of it, however!
