GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

My geese do NOT like it when there's breeding going on. The ducks have started at it again and every time a drake gets on a duck, all 16 geese surround the mating and yell at the drake until he gets off. (Just like a schoolyard fight) Then at least two geese chase him and bite him afterward. From the noise, one would think there was a bear in the yard!

Mine are like that. I´m sure I can hear them shout "fight, fight, fight.."

And they do it with other geese mating too. They´re just thugs!

I see that here to, I only have the 2 geese and I call them the goose patrol they can't stand any mating going on unless it's theirs.

I just see mine doing little courting dances in the pond, shortly followed by mating, then triumphant cheers by the gander. A week or so later the eggs start to arrive.

Everything about geese is just so graceful.

No mating yet but my gander is getting very loud and walking around making everyone get out of his way, even trying to pull it on me. if it's anything like last year it will be in Jan. around middle then 31 of Jan. Missy laid her first egg. And Missy was the one who initiated mating by biting on Sammy, she was so brazen..

That is so funny! I wonder why they do that.

I call my geese the goose patrol, they will break up any mating going on with the ducks. It's hilarious they run up and stand right over them screaming at them to stop.
