Goose can't walk :c

It's okay, it was the right thing. I just feel sorry for her mate, a single dad of 5

I bet he is doing great with the goslings, my gander has been a great papa to the ducklings that have hatched her this year.

Plucking her feathers could most likely be from stress, how long had she lived with her other family before you got her? Did she hurt either leg, ankle, or hip? Geese stress very easy. If it's a strain, a warm soak ( up to the hip), in epsom salts several times daily will help her.... however make sure she does not drink the water, and have a towel on the bottom of the container so she doesn't slide....you will have to gently hold her in your arms during this treatement. Continue to pick her up and gently place her in her pool so she can bath and groom, several times daily. this will boost her moral. Geese do not like being dirty. I know mine don't. Also a thick layer of Thimothy grass (from your grain store) for extra padding to lay on will help, put her food and water right in front of her so she doesn't have to move to get it. What I do when one of my babies are injured or sick, I put them in their house, that's in their pen, this way they can still be around their family, and be safe at the same time. They have their water and food in with them, very small bucket of water (deep enough so they can get their whole head in, they need to keep their eyes and nose clear) and a small pan of food. I call it their hospital room. I put a baby gate in front of the door so nobody gets in. I know it's alot of work, but once you have everything in order, you and your baby will feel alot less stress. Everything likes to feel the comfort of safety. When an animal is injured or sick, they feel (and are very vulnerable). My prayers go out to you and your baby....please keep us posted. P.S. She's beautiful.
