We just got done Hatching 2 Goose Eggs, Started out as 3 but only two were fertile at 18 days, so we tossed the third one. The new goslings are doing very well. There is a batch behind them but at 28 days (Feb 14th written on the shell) candling they look like the day 18 stage. They are still moving inside, but at this rate will be way past the 28-31 days. W read where they can go 40+ days. They are White Embden Geese. There are other batches coming up behind them as we only have 4 girls so we collect for 7 days before incubation commences. Anyone have any experiences with this type of thing, good or bad. We am using Rcom incubators Max 20 and 50 and those seam to be working well.

I have had late eggs hatch with success. The biggest thing with late eggs is the chicks are often sticky, or coated with a thick goo that often dries to a hard crust. This goo doesnt hurt them, although I would recommend giving them a sponge bath shortly after they dry. Never a point chucking eggs that still have a chance. I have had some very late ducks and geese that grew up to be strong and beautiful birds.

Great information, So how do I know exactly when to move from the auto turning incubator to the Incubator used as a hatcher? Do you think it is best to just move them and Hand turn them until they hatch, if so then how do I put the eggs in lockdown? hmmmm....

I might turn them for a few more days, then put them in lock down. You really only need to turn eggs for the first two weeks. I wouldnt be too concerned about turning them just the right amount, I just hatched a bunch of quail without turning them at all (forgot to plug in the turner...).
