i got some goose eggs but dint know how old they are. they are in the bator now. i candled them and i can see veins and the chicks in two of them and they are almost all dark in side. pic would be helpful and any info too please

You mean you got the eggs already incubated? If so by your description I would say at least day 20+

Yes they were incubated when I got them from a friend. So idk how old they are and he doesn't either. Any advice on how to tell how old they are ?

sounds like the 2-3 week mark. Do they still have room to move a good bit? if so, then they are around end of 2, -third week mark.

If they are all dark and not able to move much, the three-four week mark.

Goose eggs do ok with turning them right to the end...not great, but ok.

Goose eggs take approximately 35 days to hatch (5 weeks).

I turn mine until I notice them rocking around. I only lost one egg (not fertile) and one gosling (had a brooder temp spike while I was away), so I did not fare too poorly.


Some breeds go as few as 29 days, others go longer.

The key with goose eggs is PATIENCE. It can take 3 full days (some even longer) to go from pip to zip!

i just noticed my eggs rocking . should i stop turning them?

Since you don't know exactly how far along they are, if it were my eggs, I would stop turning them.

I've noticed my eggs rocking up to a week before hatch. At this point, stopping the turning shouldn't harm the goslings.
