Goose family question

Theres this family at this lake that me and my boyfriend go to, we see them every single day but today they were the only family not there which was very surprising considering that they’re the most common ones we know and see everyday. So my boyfriend thinks that they left for a week for “thanksgiving to go to a relatives house” which does sound bazaar and I don’t think they can think like us and celebrate the holidays.

Maybe they're not getting enough food at that lake??
