I have a young (11 month old) american goose. Some of you may remember last weekend when she was having 'problems'?? She was acting very sensitive, not walking well and kinda droopy. She had been laying 'pullet'-sized eggs, and on Sunday (day after I noticed her acting this way) she laid an egg that was roughly twice as big as the ones she normally laid. The bigger one that she laid on Sunday is the size of a normal goose egg, her usual eggs are small. She has been laying like 3 weeks? 4 weeks? so I assume this is normal.
Anyway, she has not laid one egg since the huge one on Sunday. She is not broody, or if she is, she is not broody 'right'. She has gotten very protective of her nest area, but we've left the last 2 eggs in it, when we were picking them up daily.
Any idea why she would suddenly stop? She's only laid like 12 or 13 eggs, so I wouldn't think she'd be done for the season already? Before this, she was laying daily or every-other day. It was like she would lay one day, skip a day, then lay 2 days, skip a day, then again one day and skip a day, and so on.
I'm at a loss here, she is my first goose and is giving me fits!
