Hi--I'm newly signed in, though not a new reader here. I am hopeful you all can help me... I have a Toulouse goose (sp?) who got all broody and ended up sitting on 3 chicken eggs. One egg hatched today--and now I am wondering what the heck I am supposed to do next. I've raised chickens for years--but have never done so with a mama goose involved. She doesn't seem like she necessarily understands what to do with it? One of the other eggs got crushed--my mistake--I put a bowl of chick starter nearby and the goose awkwardly tipped it into the nest, crushing one of the eggs/fetus inside. The other egg is still whole, and likely to hatch--when, I'm not sure.

How shall I proceed? I'm worried that the chick can't reach the regular waterer in the coop--but my other hens are all free range (unfenced) so if I put anything smaller out it will likely get tipped over, etc. Also, the goose loves water, and is a klutz so I can picture her tipping it over.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
Christina
