Hello, I have a new mother goose first time sitting in eggs. Day 28 and I found 2 fully hatched but dead babies at 6 am! I locked the gander out and she calmed down... The mother moved all eggs off that gross mess of a nest and started rendering the 6 remaining eggs. One pip gosling is now trying to make its self out if the shell and has now made about a quarter sized hole but there is a bit of blood. Normal? It’s been trying for 6 hours now but not much progression! Should I help? Leave it? There isn’t any pips from the other shells yet but yesterday all were ready to hatch, movement and normal looking! I’m having a heck of a time finding info on this....

Can I see a pic of the hole? It's not ready yet. Just leave it be. If there was blood it's definitely not ready. The gander killed the 2 goslings? Wow.

I’m here again just looking... seems the blood is drying up... still peeping away... mumma is doing good. But still not any bigger of a hole though!? How long should I wait? And shouldn’t the other eggs be pipping by now?

Yes, the first one was 6:30 am... second pic 3:30 pm.. mumma is picking at the hole a bit!
Theres a lot of dried blood. He looks shrink wrapped. Can you rubsome coconut oil on all of the membrane? Don't get any on the bill. Mom probably knows it needs help

Well it’s out but mumma helped it... she was nibbling the shell etc..bit of blood but it’s not bleeding.... this is how it’s umbilical cord looks...

And then mumma tried to kill it! So! Now what... is this mum just unsure of what is going on? Could she have killed the others?? And do I put the baby in the incubator or just under a heat lamp

It might have something wrong with it, but it might not. Put it under a heat lamp in a brooder. You'll probably have to raise it yourself. If any others hatch take one to raise with this poor little fella. Good job rescuing him from his crazy mama!
