So sorry for your loss. The only thing that cheer up a gander is another goose or goslings to raise.

So Sorry. Its just heartbreaking- for you and for her mate as well. We had a loss last year, and I gave the grieving gander all of the babies I had to give him a new "purpose".

Tivona, I am sorry. This just isn't right. From reading this thread and other postings you have made, I know your animals get the care they need and beyond. I don't have the answers or the words for you to make this better. I don't think there are any. My thoughts are with you as are my prayers. Your love and attention will go far in helping your gander cope with his loss, until you can find another solution. Be it another female or babies. The right thing will come along and I know you will grab on to it with both hands.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It is heartbreaking. Knowing it was her intestines does make me feel like it was out of my hands, so I am glad I checked as hard as it was, but its still is really sad. I don't think there was anything I really could have done other then what I did knowing what I do now.

She was my sweetest bird. Snow loved to climb on to my lap if I sat down on the ground, eat out of my hand, tug on my jeans if I was not paying attention and always came running as soon as she saw me. I know both I and my gander miss her terribly. I may be able to get a new female from someone locally that I talked to in the next week or so to help my poor gander, River. Hopefully it will help him not feel so lost. I saw him this morning following one of my ducks. He hasn't trumpeted since I took her away, just small sad sounds.

I really hate seeing him so lost and sad.

I love my Embden, Snow was beautiful. I hope you can get your gander a female it will sure perk him up, poor guy probably feels lost. as I'm sure you do right now.

they are beauties Tivona. You're right about the findings. Even a Vet may have missed this if the right blood work wasn't done and it would have required surgury to repair and it still may not have worked. Sometimes no matter what we do their time with us is limited and all we can do is enjoy what we are given. I so hope you are able to find another goose for River. Looking at Snow, you can tell that she was one happy goose. Her life with you was wonderful from her stand point. Just look at that face! She had a wonderful life with you.

Thanks. I had a terrible time getting that picture she kept trying to get me to pet her or trying to play with the camera. They started out side by side but I kept having to back up to take the picture. She kept following me step by step. Each time she would sit down I would try to get the close up with my junk camera and she would again try to play with the camera or bump my hand. I finally got that shot of her though. She always seemed to be smiling. She even let strangers pet her.
