Do any of you house chickens or guineas and geese in the same house? I am getting ready to build a large coop for my guineas and chickens and would also like my goose to be able to sleep in their as well. Currently she comes into the house every night and sleeps in a dog kennel because I am paranoid after a fox killed ten of my birds one night. The coop I will build will 8' x 8-12'; I am not sure if i will building or buying the shed that will form the main structure so I'm not 100% sure on the size. I don't know if she will be annoyed staying with other birds or welcome the company, and I'm not sure how to handle flooring and bedding since she poops A LOT during the night. I was planning to give her a corner with a straw pile to snuggle down into (not under the roosts of course). I appreciate any feedback, advice, lessons learned, and so forth. Some things I know I need to account for are to have steps and/or a small deck for her to use to enter and exit, as well as making sure there is a way to let her out into the yard but keeping the chickens and guineas in the run when I am not home. The goose is free range all day but the others will only be free range when I am home, or at least that is the plan. I know guineas especially like to make their own rules.

We keep our Toulouse gander (Dick) with nine pekin ducks, a leghorn hen (Claudia) , and eight mixed cochin bantams which includes two roosters. The ducks and Dick take care to avoid sleeping under the roosts and in order to avoid any undo trouble we make sure to let them out rather early. All of our poultry are free range, but Dick and the ducks were staying with the chickens from a young age. Our coop has no special accommodations for the ducks or geese and they hop in and out when its time to pick or go to bed. We are hoping to make a new coop for the water loving poultry before back to school. Our coop is around 4' x 5'.

We have both. (If you mean what I think you mean saying pop door) The ducks and goose generally refuse to use the small chicken sized door for going in, but will gladly bail out of it in the morning. We have to open up the big human sized door and watch them step up into the coop every night after the chickens go in. They are pretty good about going to bed in a timely manner so as soon as all of the chickens are in and roosting we just go and let them in. On the other hand all of the chickens except for Claudia refuse to use the big door in most cases. Our birds are funny like that.
