Hello, I'm looking for some help from the more experienced goose people on here :). I am trying to understand my goose a little better. The one thing that I can't seem to find anywhere is beak clicking. It's always 4 clicks in a row. If anyone can help me figure out what this means, I would really appreciate it!!

Also interested in the meaning of whinnying. Its a low hushed whinny sound. Almost like he's trying to whisper it.

What does wing flapping mean? Almost seems like it might be a dominance thing (could be wrong).

Is it normal for a goose to try to "talk" over two people who are trying to talk?

Thank you in advance :D

Em well no one will ever know but the clicking noise?! Is normal and the flapping wing thing is for either fun or heat or to dry wet feathers espically when windy and yea well thats all really i can say i tell you more if it comes to mind :-/

OH!! I will definitely get that book. Just as soon as I have the money (sad, I know). I've heard good things about it!

Thank you everyone for your responses!!! :D

I don't think I've heard the clicking , the flapping winds if kinda like a shake is to let me know I am invading his space only my gander does this one. and the talking over two or more people trying to talk is very normal I always say my geese will try to get the last word in no matter what. I love the lil noises they make almost reminds of a cat purring and often wondered if it was contentment. I'll have to look for this book.

Mine click a lot when they are just sat, like on their nest, or just in the shade...clicks....
This whinnying is just chatter, mine do it nearly all the time, especially the young ones. Like they´re chuntering away to themselves...
All mine flap their wings...seems to me it´s like our having a good stretch. The males do it more, however, so could be a bit of dominance thing too. (shows off big chest and billowing sails)
My geese talk with me...could it not be that they´re joining in?

Beak clicking is just another type of chatter for the geese. They just love to talk low when grazing and happy. That is their happy talk. Goslings do it all the time when content. Wing flapping is exercising the wings and also male use it for warnings. Now just wing shaking by males is I am warning you keep away.
Geese love to be in the conversation with you when talking to other people. It is like they are talking to you to be in the conversation. Geese do like to talk!

Goose is a Toulouse. Just a good ole hatchery type Toulouse. I would provide a picture, but my camera is crapping out on me and with my cell phone, you would just see a big gray blob. Lol!

Thank you. Pretty much what I was figuring. The clicking I'm relieved to hear is not an aggression thing. I was taking it as he is annoyed. His body language is very different from my girls (to be expected).
Since he turned into a "teenager", we've been having some dominance issues >:{ . However, after reading a really awesome post on here, Goose has been learning A LOT about the pecking order of our household! No worries, we aren't hurting him. Were just using goose behavior to teach goose behavior. It's working VERY well. :D
I no longer have a psychotic goose attached to my leg and the bruises are starting to fade a little... Lol!
Anyway, thank you all so much for your help with this. I absolutely love him (even though sometimes I'd like to strangle him, kinda like people kids) and want to try to understand him as best as I can. I want him to be happy here :)
