Goose laying question

Did I say they are penned??... LOL.. I sure hope its not this bad with bonded geese as it is with getting adult geese.. Glad we penned them before the GK's come tomorrow.
The female goose hangs back but the male will bum rush the fence when I go out, I am able to keep him at bay for the time being with my dura fork (was afraid he would impale himself on the pitchfork lol) .. This all started in force yesterday so I figured she was close to laying lol I cant even give them the ration of corn now as he doesn't want me even close to the gate lol I manage but just barely

Mind you, these are the sweet geese I have posted several pics of lol...

If she has 8 keep them at 8 best as you can by taking the oldest egg out (usually the most dirty ones).
You should be fine with incubating so.
Your gander sounds like a nasty little fecker

I couldn't leave a gander do that or me and him will be fighting eachother!
But it's very normal for a gander to be very aggressive if there is no other gander around since your the only one that he can dominate ;)

I have never allowed a dominant animal on the property, this came out of left field (I know its part of the breeding hormones) Hubs can go out there and although the Gander rushes him Jeff can stop him with simply waving his arms.. Me, not so much, he just keeps coming.. I try to stand my ground, really I do.. I don't run from him but I do take a step or two back.. He is a big intimidating boy

How would you suggest I make him back down from me? I have tried the waving my arms, walking twords him and even taking him by the neck and turning him away, he just keeps on coming. The only thing that keeps him at bay for the moment is me carrying a dura fork

Oh dumb me.. I've read that before..

Thanks for the link, I refreshed my memory reading thru it and went right out and into their run...He came at me head down and hissing, I walked towards him with my arms out hissing right back, he didn't miss a beat and launched right at my legs... Two seconds later I had him by the neck and pinned to the ground... LOL.. Needless to say it only took once.. I've tested him twice more by leaving and going back after a bit and he hasn't come at me like that again, he grumbles and complains but keeps his distance.. Much easier to deal with than a rooster, at least the geese cant fly into my face lol

He'll probably forget and you'll have to remind him many times over the breeding season but it does work quite well. lol

This afternoon my gander came after me again so i picked him up and put him inside their house by himself oh my gosh he was so upset I just figured I'd try some time out I left him in there about 45 mins while cleaning up and getting the chickens and ducks up then I let him out he was on his best behavior after I let him out, But I know he'll forget again and we'll start all over.
