Hello All,

I rescued some geese a while back here in the U.K. and all has been good bar one case of bumble foot which is now sorted. However, one of my geese is now limping, so I got him checked and the vet said he has a callus on his foot. He walks with quite a swagger now and seems to be sitting more than usual, but he's mobile, can swim, stands ok and walks about, albeit slower than the rest and seems generally happy and eats well.

The vet said it is bumble foot but not infected (just a callus) and to leave it as he's not in pain, but i'm worried it'll get worse or if it makes him more vulnerable to predators. I wanted the vet to operate, but as he's an old goose, and so say not in pain, she just said to 'see how he goes'.

Just wanted to hear some of your thoughts on this.

Gary (the Goose) is at least 15yrs we think.

Sounds like you may want to get a second opinion. If he is limping and its effecting his walking I'd say it is painful.
