My little Saddleback goose started limping earlier in the week. She's been mostly non mobile the last day and a half but alert. I did give her some meloxicam this morning. It looks like the left joint is swollen. I'm at a real loss here on how to help her. I have not separated her in the house or their pen because I feel like she be really stressed. She's basically put herself on self rest so I suppose that is a good thing. She laid an egg yesterday and will likely be due to lay another one tomorrow but I don't think that's related. Any ideas?

I would take a picture of the foot pad. The ankle joint looks very swollen, and she could have a bad sprain or even a fracture. As long as she is not using too much, I would just watch her. If she uses it too much, it may not heal, so then you would need to crate her with food and water. Have you continued the meloxicam?

Thanks! She is doing better. It's not bumblefoot, just calloused. I checked her over and have dealt with bumblefoot before. She's getting around much better, but still limping a bit and still has herself on rest most of the day. Eating, drinking, laying eggs, swimming and preening! I took the wrap off the other day and the swelling has gone down a lot. I stopped giving the meloxicam after about 4 days. It was stressful for her and and her running around trying to get away from me was probably aggravating it and making it worse. Bonus, I've purposly been leaving her eggs in her nest and I think she's finally going to go broody which will allow her to heal up over the next month. At least that's what I'm hoping!

Glad to hear she's doing better! I would definitely be letting her rest as much as possible. She probably just had a little sprain or something.
