Goose losing neck feathers

Hi, I wonder is anyone knows what is causing our elderly goose to loose feathers around her neck?
I have seen this before caused by mating but we lost our gander last year and only have two females now.

Have you not seen them play mating? females will mount each other and act just like a gander would.

Have you seen her itching or preening more than usual?

It's June, the usual month of molting for geese. She may be having a more than usual molt this time. I currently have tons of feathers everywhere in my yard. My ladies have lost all flight feathers and when they run or threaten and try to spread their wings they have stubby little things - its comical and I feel sorry for them also.............
