Fred (roman) layed one today 170 grams

140 grams was her largest last year. I'm glad It appears we saw Josephine perhaps playing house with Fred's egg. I'm keeping everyone seperated until the eggs quit anyway.

Come on COOL WEATHER!

Morning all,

Iain thanks for getting new pictures of the special needs. Shuffle looks wonderful as does Hitch. Spirit is getting so big!

Paula glad you figured out who was laying, had a very strong feeling it wasnt the 4 month old.

Our temps will be cool again at the end of the week, dont think Iain is available to ship on Wednesday though. Looks like we will be pushing late Oct to early Nov at this rate to get them all shipped in, Luckily I will start shipping birds out ASAP that have been waiting to send. Looks like I can send 4 maybe 5 out this week and next. Waiting for 1 more box to arrive for a pair to goto GA.

-------had to delete the database and page for the rescue. It had a spike in the usage which caused our server to go over its limit. That in turn crashed the farms site, and I cant risk another spike and outage. Luckily most of the geese have been placed now with just a couple still looking for home so it wont effect those efforts.

Today is shipping day. Only Marty's african trio are departing because weather conditions are too hot to ship anyone else, but so help me, I am shipping the remaining 11 juveniles to Florida next week. The weather better be cool enough! I believe I have placed a solo grey gander locally that may be leaving today too.

Sue, Fred is going to throw some big babies if her eggs keep getting bigger. Glad Josephine is settling in so well!!

Celtic, thanks for the compliments! I am excited at how the adults are all starting to fill out. FYI, I have decided to send you the chunky buff adult boy and keep the other one... and I have already named my new guy Chance.

huge storm rolled through. Lightening knocked me off a call on my cell phone, melted a fuse in the transformer and sent a surge so strong the main breaker on our house blew! Power was just turned back on about 5 minutes ago now. Luckily we have a gas stove, so used a lighter to fire up the burners and started dinner while the men folks rounded up the animals and locked everyone up early.

Iain, hope you are having an uneventful evening out your way and have a safe drive to the airport. Tell hubby thanks for all of his hard work today too, and enjoy the empty space!

We are back from the airport and the 2nd round of geese are awaiting departure on their respective airplanes in the morning. We took Marty's white african trio and Celtic's 5 juvenile buffs. I will be on pins and needles until they arrive safely at their new homes. Our place is indeed looking pretty empty now, although we still have 50 geese on our property. 12 more birds are awaiting shipment and I have the last of the extra grey ganders listed locally. If all goes well, within 2 weeks our numbers will be down to low 30s.

I am starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. This rescue mission is almost complete!

PS Marty and I are in touch via text message. She asked me to post a message saying she is working very hard to get her internet running again at her house this week and misses her buddies on byc!

Here is "Dually" in his new home. He settled in just fine. The other goose is Tresor another gander. And of course those two don't go far without their turkeys :) He hasn't met the other geese as they are at my mom's house while the pasture fence is being worked on. Sorry it took so long to get some pics up but wanted you to know he is doing well and definatly continuing to gain weight.

So nice to see that the birds are going on to forever homes and taking some of the weight off you guys. That is still a LOT of geese. I wish I had more pasture....

I know who Tresor is. :D

Yep, he is a beauty but of course all my geese from Vicky are:) I have two low libido/poor breeders ganders from Vicky. Both are good boys even in the breeding season. As I don't want to breed and have young nephews around their low drive is a plus for me.
