Seriously, I think this is great, and I hope it make it easier to find some good homes for the ones that are left needing their "forever homes" too. It makes me glad I bought her eggs, and even got those extras, if this means those goslings have a much better opportunity. They get to be with the girls for 4H, trim the west side of our lawn, grow up with plenty of food and space and good care, and even make us some omlets when I don't feel like hatching anymore! (Just think of all the shipping money I'm going to save!!!)

Costs so far are just over $2,000: $50 pre-trip supplies (straw & feed) $800 gas, $200 food, $650 vet, $50 gas for two trips to vet, $50 donation to Richard for 2 trips up here to help worm/exam/test, $100+ additional fencing needs, $100+ miscellanous (watermelon, first aid supplies for bumblefoot, extra kiddy pools, zip ties for id purposes, etc.)

Total paypal donations to date: $317.

wish I knew how to get more on board to donate. Even 20.00 would add up fast is several people did it.

Thanks, everyone! The pair of adults with bumblefoot are responding really well to treatment and am hopeful to turn them back out with the rest this weekend. Then, I will pull the other two greys out for closer exam and possible xrays. I think they are my favorites of all the adults. I was able to snap a couple pics when feeding this evening. They are coming right up to me when feeding and these two are always the ones closest to me.

The girl is in the center of pic and has the brown looking beak compared to everyone else's orange beaks. The boy is at the bottom center, directly between me and the girl.

I talked to my vet today about the gimpy juvenile grey, who told me to put him in special needs pen and give him .7 cc metacam daily for the next 5-7 days. So, we did just that today. Two things of special note. First, the boy is skin and bones and overall is in the worst shape of the entire juvenile group. Second, when he tried to go into kiddy pool while blind girl was swimming, she bit him and meant it!! Then, the other two girls came over and the trio had quite the chat about their new arrival. It gives me wonderful hope for blind girl!

Latest report & new pics!

Gimpy grey boy has integrated wonderfully in special needs pen and all four look happy. Gimpy is still limping, but there is minor improvement.
Adult bumblefoot pair are healing nicely and will be released back into pasture tomorrow. We will tag them with a bright orange ziptie to monitor better.
The adult grey boy is clearly in distress with his limp and I will be pulling him out of pasture tomorrow.
The adult grey girl does not appear to be in distress, but she needs a closer exam as her gait is quite funky. Plus, she will make an excellent companion for the adult male.

I have two appointments scheduled for Wednesday... 10am for xrays of adult greys and 2pm eye specialist exam for Blind Girl. FYI, the first picture is the adult female with the weird gait.
