SHIPPING COSTS

I played with the postage calculator this afternoon. The box itself is 8 lbs. I plan to fill it with 4lbs of bedding/watermelon. Therefore the base weight is 12 lbs. I weighed my largest juvenile dewlap today and she is 18.5 lbs! So, if I were to ship Nutmeg, the total cost would be $100.

Based on that, I would range the adults between 18-23 lbs. Therefore, total weight of package is between 30-35 lbs, and the cost will be between $100-115.

If you are getting juvenile pairs, I would estimate the range to be between 40-48 lbs for the birds (40lbs being maximum inside weight), bringing the cost to $128-149.

I have a chart of the adopters’ zip codes and am contacting those that appear to have cool fronts anticipated and will try to get more individual estimates privately to everyone as their shipping date nears.

Express mail is the only way birds ship. Be sure you are looking at those shipping costs. Peaches and McGraw were $150 (sorry just rechecked their shipping label) in shipping

You sold peaches and McGraw? Aww.... Love the grey spots all over the neck and tips of feathers in their offspring. Time to force the sebbies to let me read the tag numers and get close ups again. One of them still has 2 buff and several gray feathers. (So sue me, I keep hoping they'll stay) And another has funny spots.

Nope didn't sell them, that's from when they shipped to me. Not a one of their goslings has spots on them anywhere, you might be confused since you don't have any of their goslings.

McGraw - grey fully culy gander bred by Holderreads
Peaches - Lilac smooth goose bred by Banter

You have goslings from our white trios this year. We kept one and sold all the others including Jubilee (full sister to one of yours).

The tanish colors on the feathers is staining from being on the dirt, the stains won't ever fully go away unless kept on grass 24/7 or in a sterile stall (which isn't good for them) after being bathed thoroughly. Whites stain easily, I don't think there is 1 in our group who doesn't have some staining with how long their feathers are now.

The spots eventually fade for the most part. Sassy has one on her head still, but last years body feathers that were colored appear all gone this year. The same for the other two white girls who last year as juveniles had spotting, this year they have molted away finally.

Berner, Assuming it is not too short of notice for you, I am very excited to report I may be able to ship your gander this upcoming Monday! My post office is checking for possible layover locations that would affect shipping, but the weather forecast is looking good for both my area and yours. I will get you a shipping cost total hopefully by the end of the day.
That would be GREAT! I can't wait to meet him. Just let me know what you from my end.

Just a reminder, those who have not yet covered the testing cost for the birds they are adopting or finished paying for shipping boxes need to do so ASAP. The birds can't be shipped until all associated costs have been covered. Please don't delay getting this taken care of so we can keep the stress levels as low as possible for Iain and Janet as they organize everything for shipping.

Jerry/Paulla, I will be printing shipping labels for you later tonight and will forward the info when done. Online says they will be ready for pick up by 3pm Wednesday. However, they could arrive as early as 7am Wednesday, so please be on standby to pick up the birds.

FYI, I weighed the little buff guy who I had named Napolean and was surprised to find he only weighs 13 lbs (compared to my buff juvenile Nutmeg who weighs a whopping 18.5lbs). I expect the girl weighs even less, but will double check that later today. So, I am planning to refund some shipping money to you.

This is so exciting for you all. I am so looking forward to pics of every ones reunion. Praying for safe trips for them all.
How common is it for people to send adult geese through the mail? or even juvies for that matter.
