When I found out my grey toulouse was a girl, and I knew Janet (IainUtah) had extra boys, so I went ahead and adopted her a boyfriend.

Now, I'm not really planning to do anything with the geese, except let them look pretty. I won't be able to eat these parent, anyway, and DH is planning to eat the eggs. I'm definatly NOT planning to allow more than 12 geese on the whole property. I'm currently at 11. 5 sebbies and 6 toulouse.

Both breeds get a lot of attention on Saturdays when folks drop in during our "open house" hours to see the progress on the house and property, or volunteer. Most have never seen or heard of sebastopols or toulouse. The sebbies really make them wonder!!! I can't wait until the dewlaps are full. Dude is clearly older than mine, and has a better neck dewlap.

Marty,

Your babies look gorgeous!! SO happy you got a gander for your grey girl!!

Thanks Iain! I promise, he'll be very well fed, cared for, and spoiled here. :D IN FACT, we're going to empty our above ground pool tonight, and send the water to the old pond DH dug out this spring. We've done a bit of work on it, and the geese will all get to swim in it soon! Unlike a kiddy pool, they will all fit at once. LOL

I just checked, and Dude and Lady are amiably nibbling grass on the west side of the honeymoon pen. He'd finished off the bowl of food again, so I gave them a bigger dish (on old 9 x 12 cake pan) and that should last them all day.

Glad to hear all the geese have arrived safely. Congrats to the adopters on your new birds, and congrats to janet on finding them wonderful homes.

Got it 90% painted.

Hows the squirrel? I miss your updates! What are you hatching? I'm thinking about hatching some more ducks. My Anconas have started to lay now, plus, I've just sold 15 ducks (Khakis) so I'm gonna put in 2 dozen eggs to replace them.

The squirrel finally decided she was ready to move outside a few weeks ago. She's been busy building a nest in a tree in our front yard, and has found herself a friend she hangs out with. I'm hatching calls, my magpie girl has been laying the last few months and I need a few more girls to round things out.

Then hopefully I am done until spring, I don't want to get stuck brooding a bunch of babies inside all winter, lol. Although if this winter is like last winter that won't be a problem.

Glad to here she's making a home for herself. You awesome. (hug)

I don't want to brood all winter either, however, I'm guessing we'll all be meeting up at hatch day is today here once we're stuck inside, and goodness only knows what'll come of those conversations and our ready access to ebay!
