Marty if you have any Oxine ah take it along and spray it often, over top of your birds add a tiny bit to their drinking water too. And everytime you come home be sure to take off all clothes and shoes and wash before going around the other members of your flock, oh and be sure to put on clothes after removing the ones you had on. might be a little nippy outside.

Sorry I haven't been on my lately, but I had to travel for business and then come home and cover for a colleague who is out of the country. It all kept me very busy but I have been reading the posts and keeping up, even if I wasn't posting myself. Thanks for thinking about us, Janet! And great news about Spirit's checkup, and that your feelings about his sex were validated. My guys are doing great. I took several pictures this morning, but the trees made so much shade they didn't turn out too well. I'll try to take more later in the day tomorrow. I did get one close up picture of Atticus, which is good because I have a question about some feathers on his wing. They don't look like Finch's or like the one's of everybody else's Toulouse.




Can you see the feathers I mean on his wing? They look sort of inside out. Why do they look that way and is there anything I can do to make them look normal? Otherwise both Atticus and Finch are doing great. Nobody is trying to mate with anybody, so I guess they are both boys!

It was a chicken, felt bad for the owner, her message sounded like she was heart broken.

There was 3 silkies missing still don't know if they got returned though.

Yay! I got it to work after resending from my phone to my computer. So, what's up with those wing feathers? Janet, were they like this when you had him? I just wonder.

it "looks" like he is missing some wing feathers making me think he is molting. their wings look odd during molt for sure.

It's only this one wing - the other one looks fine. Finch's wings look fine, too. That's what has me a bit confused about what's going on. If I could find out from Janet if it looked this way when she had him that might be a clue, too.

Again not being hands taking a guess here, but I would bet if you stretched that wing out to full extension you would find missing primary flight feathers. See the wing clipping diagram below to show how the feathers when left in a partial trim show the odd coloring. If you look the primaries stack neatly with those farther up the wing towards the body laying over the ones out near the tip. This would give an appearance of being upside down. Not all geese molt the same time and the same way, hope this helps.
