I have two mixed breed geese about 8 months old. No idea what sex they are. Today I let them out for a swim and I noticed blood stained feathers and a clot hanging underneath one of the geese. No chance of a predator. Any chance this is pre egg laying. No signs of an egg

Sometime when first eggs are laid there can be a bit of blood but it's usually on the egg. Did you check the bedding real good for signs of an egg? If mine I'd catch and check her out real good don't want to miss a prolapse if that maybe it.

I did her ? Him out no prolapse, no sign of an egg. What I thought was a clot was dry. I did get somewhat of a picture so I don’t know what happened. I will check the goose today. Thank you for responding. I don’t know much about geese. I grew up and still have chickens.

Hopefully nothing to worry about.

Let us know what you see if anything. Usually around 9 months and up laying begins. Some geese start earlier Chinese I believe are one breed that may lay earlier than 9 months.
