Yup I'd say that's a gander.

Gander's are usually 'thicker' than females. More masculine
 
I was thinking gander myself. I sent the same pic to the guy i got the egg off to hath, he said goose but not 100% sure. Also if this confirms it, he is very loud almost barking lol
