Goose Pairing questions

Morning. I had 2 geese from hatch this spring and one passed away 2 weeks ago. Different breeds- male and female. The Male is who passed away. I did get another goose (white male- Rusty in picture), he is 3 and came from a large flock family. His partner passed and he was lonely. My goose was lonely too so I got him for her (and him). I do have 8 ducks (2 male and 6 female). The 2 male ducks chase my female (gray goose- Eddie) but Eddie insists to hang with them. Rusty is very laid back and follows my goose around but she tends to ditch him for the ducks and he will yell for her and she just ignores him and micromanages the ducks.

In time will they bond better? I know it has only been a week but she seems to not really care if he is around or not and he just follows her all over. He could care less about the ducks. He is a sweet boy and it sucks watching her be such a bag to him. (she has never attacked him, nipped at him or chased him away) Just ignores him.

Gray one is female Eddie- born in late March
White one is male Rusty- 3 years old

They’ll bond but it will take time. They’ll probably start getting along better closer to winter when breeding season starts.

Excuse me? Mating in winter? I am not sure they realize it gets to -30 deg here in winter and feet of snow. And only 6-7 hours of actual daylight. LOL!

On a serious note, I have not seen any of that behavior from them at all yet. The ducks on the other hand....they are like rabbits. Hopefully that stops at some point. Geezzz...

He is a sweet gentleman with her and I hope she comes around at some point.

Geese start pairing up and getting hormonal at the start of winter and it will ramp up by late winter/spring.
